Meet the Staff

Case Manager - Heidi Stark

I have lived in Dodge County all of my life; most of it on a dairy farm.  I have worked in a wide range of jobs from short order cook to production control coordinator at a local factory.  I have volunteered at a mental health facility, with the handicapped, as a Sunday school teacher and at PAVE.  At PAVE, I have worked as a weekend and fill in advocate, answering crisis lines and helping take care of the shelter's needs for about two years.

I have done a bit of everything, which helps me understand the needs and wants of our clients and has proven helpful in helping out with little projects at our shelter.  I am currently enrolled at MATC where I soon hope to finish my associate degree and have hopes of attending UW for a degree in social work.  I am relatively new to the domestic violence field but I love people and want to see everyone be the best they can be.  Living on a dairy farm here in Wisconsin, we are faced with all kinds of problems and have to do a lot of problem solving, so this is really nothing new for me.  I look foward to taking on the challenges of Case Management here as PAVE and helping our communities in Dodge County to make the choice to no longer accept domestic violence as a part of life.

Children's Advocate - Jen Kunath

I grew up in the rural area of Johnson Creek, WI.  In 2002, I graduated from UW Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies.  Starting in 2008, I returned to school at the Chicago School for Professional Psychology where I am currently working on my Master's degree in Forensic Psychology.

I have worked several jobs over the years.  I have done everything from unloading trucks at Wal-Mart to being a supervisor in a factory.  I had relocated to Joplin, MO following graduation.  I worked as a Mental Health Worker, Tech II in a behavioral health hosptial.  I worked with children and adolescents during my time there.  I have since relocated back to Johnson Creek, WI with my daughter and husband.

Over the past year, I have been working part-time at PAVE, filling in one shift a week.  I have now moved from being the Assistant Children's Advocate to being the Children's Advocate and I am honored and excited to do so.

It has been my personal as well as professional experience that everyone out there has a part in helping end the cycle of domestic violence.  One of the most tragic parts of the cycle is the children who are hurt either physically or emotionally because of domestic violence.  I feel that through awareness and education of the community, we can help put an end to domestic violence.  We have several presentations available to the community to help raise awareness.  If you are interested in having one of these presentations brought into your community, please contact PAVE.

Executive Director - Jamie Kratz-Gullickson

I have been involved in the domestic violence field for 10 years.  After receiving my BA in Sociology, Behavior Science and Law at UW-Madison, I attended Marquette Law School. During that time, I participated in a legal internship with the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WCADV).  After receiving my Juris Doctorate with honors in public interest law, I continued to volunteer with WCADV and received a Backyard Hero Award from Community Shares of Wisconsin for my work there.

After taking some time off to stay home with my daughter, I spent several years providing pro bono legal information and representation to victims of domestic violence in family law and restraining order cases.  I also sat on the State Bar of Wisconsin's Legal Assistance Committee, focusing on equal justice in Wisconsin.

I am currently a member of the Governor's Council on Domestic Violence, the State Bar of Wisconsin, Beaver Dam AM Kiwanis, Dodge County's Bar Association, and am on the Board at the Beaver Dam Area Arts Association.

I am passionately committed to stenghtening PAVE and the services we offer to our community.  I hope though my work and the work of others that care about these issues that my daughther will see a day when no one shakes a baby, no one is bullied on the playground, no one is raped on a college campus, no one is abused by their intimate partner and no one is neglected in a nursing home - a day when the broad spectrum of domestic violence and sexual assault are no longer a part of our culture.

Legal Advocate - Ashley Welak

I grew up in Dodge County all my life, and want to be involved with my community as much as possible.  I have volunteers at PAVE for a year before I got hired.  I am grateful that I was able to receive this position and be a part of something so great.  I am very happy  and excited to be working here.  It is something I believe so strongly about and happy to try to make the community a better and safer place to live.

I have a associates degree in Criminal Justice – Corrections from Moraine Park Technical College, and someday plan to further my education.  While going through college I was a member of the American Jail Association and a Corrections Club member.  I received an award for the Who's Who Among Students award. I have a passion for the Criminal Justice field and enjoy working with people. I believe it is my purpose to try to help others help themselves. I want to help others and make a difference in their lives. I want to give people hope and let everyone know that they have potential, and its never to late to make changes in their life.  I am looking forward to the obstacles that may come about and be able sort through them and work them out.

Sexual Assault Victim Advocate - Ann Kilian-Khan

I grew up in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and received my BA from UW-Madison in Women's Studies.  I interned at Parental Stress Center in Madison.  Shortly thereafter, I moved to Washington State.  In 2001, I began working part-time at DAWN, a confidential domestic violence shelter in South King County, as a relief and crisis line advocate.  I continued in that position for over 6 years.

I recently relocated to the lovely city of Beaver Dam with my husband and cat.  I started at PAVE as a part-time relief advocate and then transitioned to the Sexual Assault Victim Advocate position.  I believe sexual assault is an insidious, but rarely discussed violent crime.  I want to help persons dealing with sexual assault be able to transform from victim to survivor.

Please call if you have questions about our services.  We are always here and look forward to assisting you!
